Pastor Stuart was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and when he finished Homewood High School, he was admitted to the School of Architecture at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He graduated with a B.Arch degree in 1978 and worked for an architectural firm in Birmingham.  During this time, he also worked part-time in youth ministry at his home church, Wilson Chapel UMC in Birmingham.  He completed the requirements for registration as an Architect in the state of Alabama in 1981 and maintains his license as an architect but only dabbles in it occasionally now.  Somewhere in that period of employment, he was called into full-time pastoral ministry and was admitted to Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY.  While in seminary, he served a pastoral appointment near Corinth, Kentucky in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He received his M.DIv degree in 1985 and was ordained an elder in the North Alabama Conference in 1987.  Pastor Stuart has served in UM churches in Talladega and Florence AL, Townsend, Maryville, Jefferson City and Blountville, TN and has been the pastor of Trinity since June, 2012.  He has been married to Elizabeth (Libby) since 1985 and they have two daughters, Elizabeth, a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee and Rachel, a second year student at the University of Tennessee.  The family also have two cats, Oliver and Mollie, and Mollie just happens to be a big orange cat!
